Weekend in Chicago

The first weekend in Chicago was of course spent at IKEA. Saturday morning I went there, together with two of my colleagues here in Chicago, Jessica and Asli. The reason was not that we missed home already, although IKEA is a great place to get a feeling of Sweden. We needed a few things for our apartments and we wanted to make a trip. We had a great day browsing around in IKEA, eating Swedish meatballs and picking out real Swedish “lösgodis”.   Sunday it was amazing weather, all sunny and nice, perfect weather for exploring Chicago. When I arrived in …

The first day at the Chicago office

This is what my first day in the Chicago office looked like. Our new colleague Jessica Mansourati also had her first day so we were so fortunate to keep each other company in being the newcomers. 7.30AM Welcome to Business Sweden USA We started out with a meeting at Trade Commissioner Björn Olofsson’s office. Morning After the meeting, we were thoroughly introduced to the internal systems and procedures and got an office tour as well as information about office procedures and security. In the morning we also had the opportunity to visit the consulate office which is located next door. …

First day in Delhi!

After an intense intro week in Stockholm I landed at New Delhi international airport at 05:00am on Sunday morning. Then, a few hours of sleep later, I was welcomed by Annie Ross (associate at the Delhi office) who had made an amazing brunch for me – just what I needed! Together with Annie and the office driver Narayan I was able to get the first glimpse of Delhi, which seems to be a very impressive and interesting city. After spending significant time in the south of India, I can honestly say that it felt little like coming home. During this …

First week in Warsaw!

Hello Warsaw! The first week at Business Sweden is completed! Started off with an intensive, yet incredibly fun week in Stockholm at the HQ. Every corner of the organisation was presented to us in the trainee group, but there was also time for social activities to get to know each other better. During the week in Stockholm it was also my birthday, for which the other trainees bought me a good luck teddy bear named Thomas that of course will come with me on my travels! After that I headed back down to Skåne, for a few tough goodbyes and repacking …

Touchdown!

Last week the journey as a trainee at Business Sweden started with an on boarding week in Stockholm for all of us trainees where we were introduced to all the different parts of the organisation and also got skills training session to prepare us for our new endeavours. It was an intense but very rewarding week where lectures were combined with interactive sessions, case-solving as well as social activities. All in all, a fantastic week that passed by surprisingly fast.   And now I am finally here! I have just touched down in London and I am now sitting on …

Time to say goodbye Sweden and Copenhagen..

The bags are packed and it is time to take one last look at the fields of Skåne, it is snow, incredibly beautiful and quiet. This is the environment I grew up in and tonight I will be in Chicago.     I expect Chicago to be everything else than quiet. I expect Chicago to be vibrant, exciting, new and international. I love arriving in a new city and I cannot wait to explore Chicago. Although, there will be a contrast, it will not be as crazy as it seems. I left the countryside already eight years ago to move …

Next stop Beijing!

After an intensive onboarding week at the Stockholm office it is finally time for take-off! Our first week in Stockholm was filled with activities that gave us an invaluable insight to the organisation and an introduction to many of the people behind it. Taking in all of the impressions from the onboarding week made us all even more eager to get started at our respective markets. So sitting here at Arlanda waiting for my flight, I can barely wait for next week to start!

First week – check

Our first week of the Talent Accelerator was intense – but most of all like a breath of fresh air. The many speakers from all corners of the organisation really clarified our view of the work that Business Sweden does, both on a daily basis and seen in the bigger picture. One of my favourite parts of the week was when a client of Business Sweden came to talk to us about the experience they had with us as a consultancy. It made things very concrete and interesting to understand from another perspective! Now I will prepare and pack the …

Flying away from onboarding week

It would be natural to be tired now; the onboarding week at Business Sweden has been intense. Tired is the least I am though, I am motivated, excited and walking across T-Centralen with butterflies in my stomach. I can put a checkmark in the box and the first week of training is done, next step is Chicago. The week at the headquarters has offered a lot, we have met many interesting and inspiring people from every corner of the organization. I have learned a lot, both practical things about work-procedures and information databases, but also Business Sweden’s areas of expertise …

Preparing our trainees for takeoff!

Onboarding week 11-15 January 2016 It was a freezing Monday morning last week when our six trainees, full of energy and expectations, arrived to the Stockholm Headquarters to spend an intense and information-packed on-boarding week with us. The week kick-started with a presentation from our CEO Ylva Berg, as she spoke about the path that Business Sweden is currently on, discussed our strategy, and initiated a vibrant dialogue with all the trainees. The rest of the week continued in the same atmosphere as our trainees were introduced to several members of the top management team as well as the heads …
