Ma’a salama!

Hi from Stockholm everyone, I have missed my hometown so much. I was here just two weeks ago for my summer vacation, but I still spent the entire car ride from Arlanda on Friday night with my head out the window enjoying the fresh air. Life in Saudi is still really rewarding though, even with the sandstorms and +40 degree weather. I know it is getting old, but I like it so much that I will be staying around. More about that in a little while. As for my summer vacation, it was fantastic. I spent three weeks in Sweden …

15 724 800 seconds later…

Hey again,   Long time no seen! Or 182 days to be exact, since my last post!   I must be honest and admit that the frequency of my posts hasn’t been the greatest lately. Last time I wrote, I was in Stockholm during the trainee homecoming week and in preparation for my departure to my second rotation and placement in The Hague and our office covering the Benelux region. Right now, as I’m writing this post, I’m awaiting to board my flight for a new destination and my next placement. Not surprisingly, a lot has happened during the past …

China – The Country Filling Up the SWOT

Four months in China and a couple of visa runs to South Korea and Sweden have passed by. And it’s been great! Spare time has been filled up with travels to several provinces in China as well as day trips in and around Beijing. Also work has been exciting and developing. Swedish companies entering China face a whole other level of challenge than when entering a European market like the UK where I spent my first rotation. On the other hand, the size and opportunities of this market is limitless. What is limited is my mandarin skills. Hence, work tasks have been more directed towards sales …

Beijing – the Silicon Valley of Asia

A bold statement to make? I wouldn’t think so – now that I’ve had the opportunity and time to deep-dive into the local business community and get in touch with the start-up/tech world on Beijing. It’s huge, flourishing and fast-paced! No matter what you associated the capital of China with before (the Forbidden City, the Tiananmen Square or the Great Wall, maybe?), I’m here to tell you that from now on, you should think of it as the capital of the world’s largest consumer market with tremendous opportunities and where things are moving fast. Here we have small and fast-growing …

At home in Saudi

Hi everyone, Three months have flown by since I last wrote. As I mentioned last, I have had the chance to stay on in Saudi and I love every minute of my experience here. Whenever I land in Riyadh the passport officer says something around the lines of “welcome home to your second home”. Not only is it very welcoming, but it resonates; I really feel like this has become my home. As the others have already written, we had our second trainee week in Stockholm in February. It was really great meeting everyone again. Although we stay in touch, mostly over Snapchat, it is …

Work, Travel, Eat, Repeat

Hola! I just came back to London from a week in the south of Spain. I travelled around by car in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the coast from Almería to Málaga. It was a well-needed dose of sun after a couple of rainy weeks in London. But it is nice to be back in the office after colossal amounts of tapas and a burning nose due to the lack of sunscreen (horrible vacation conditions). Anyhow, I thought I might tell you about a project I was working on before going on holiday. About three weeks ago, we hosted the …

The start of a dog year

Hey! Hope you are doing well! I have managed to kick-start the New Year twice now, first the New Year on the 1st of January which I celebrated in Hong Kong and then the Chinese New Year on the 16th February which I celebrated with my family in Malmö – so now I’m more than ready for what 2018 and the Year of the Dog will bring! At the start of this trainee program, it felt like six months at each market was a long time. But now that the first six-month period has flown past, I realize that time …

London Calling 2.0!

Entering the my second market, England, I will have a tough time living up to Henning’s legacy.. all jokes aside I am thrilled to be in London, we have a fantastic team working here that have welcomed me with open arms. I am already involved in some really fun projects and will have the first client kick-off in Sweden later this week. Primarily, I will be working on projects within Healthcare, Energy and ICT. Somewhat different type of projects from what I was working on in Singapore, it will be a great opportunity for me to continue my learning. Moving into …

Из России с любовью, or as we say in English, From Russia with Love!

Hello again dear reader, my friend, current colleague and/or future colleague. Since it took me so long to write my third post, I thought it would be reasonable to make my fourth post quicker than usual. Between February 5th and 9th me and the rest of the current trainees were sent back to the Business Sweden Headquarters in order to get some further training and in order for us to discuss various learnings from our different markets. A lot of interesting new information, tips and tricks were introduced and repeated to us and during one of the days we even …

Storing some of that lovely heat and getting ready for a 50 degree temperature shift!

Hello again dear reader, my friend, current colleague and/or future colleague. My plane departed from Sydney about 35 hours ago. I am now in Stockholm, currently sitting here having trouble falling asleep due to jetlag. Tomorrow (Monday morning February 5th) I will meet the rest of the Trainees of the Business Sweden Accelerator Program. I am really, really, looking forward to seeing everyone again and hearing about their experiences from all corners of the world. It’s been a while since I last wrote a post. We have been busy at the Sydney office helping Swedish companies succeed in Australia. So what …
